Section 1A of the exam

13. How do you plan to use digital technology in the production of your 3 products?
To produce our music video my group will be using:

  • Video Camera

  • Tripod

  • Still Camera

  • Memory Card

  • CD player
  • Lily Allen's CD Smile

We will be using this equipment so we are able to film with steady camera work. Also, so we are able to take digital photographs of the shoot. The CD player will be used so that the artist in the video is able to listen to the song so she is able to stay in time and also remember the lyrics. Throughout this I will be keeping up to date on what I am doing on blogger. I will also be blogging about the shoot and how it is going with filming. Once we have all the shots we will use final cut pro to edit the video together. Once the video has been completed the video will appear on vimeo.

For the packaging which is the album (the 4 panel digipak) I will be using images from the video shoot so the target audience are able to see the link from the video onto the album cover. To produce the digipak I will use photoshop to edit the photographs and text together.

For the advert I will also use photoshop. This is so I can have everything where I want but also have the advert as a reflection of the video, so I will be using the same Font type as well as images and colours.

14. How have you used conventions from real media text in your planning?
My group has taken the influence of Lily Allen "Smile" as well as Charlotte Church's video "Crazy Chick" both are of the pop genre what I have been looking at.

In this type of genre, the codes and conventions include a balance of performance and narration, which include different shots and locations.

With our music video, we will keep with the main conventions of showing a good balance of the artist performing which is studio shots and the narrative - with the artist acting it out. We will use a variety of different shots including close ups, long shots etc.

15. What have you learned about research and planning a production compared to AS?
This year in A2, I have learnt that there is a lot more research you have to do compared to AS.  This is because you need to find a video where you will be able to produce a good video. This meant there was a lot of time spent watching music video. Also, you had to make sure they are a British artist. After you found a selection of artists you wanted to cover, you needed to send off letters to the producers to ask for copyright clearance.

The production of the video is a lot bigger compared to the thriller we made in AS. This year we need a lot more shots and footage. This is because the video is much more fast paced compared to the thriller.
