Final song choice (planning)

Lily Allen's song "Smile" is our final song choice. In Lily's video she uses a heavy narrative which has a illustrative and disjuncture video. The video is constantly switching between the scene in her house, in the cafe and the revenge she is getting on her ex boyfriend. The audience get shown different scene locations such as the cafe, street, and her house and her ex's.

Although, in my group's version of "Smile" we have chosen to use a less illustrative approach. This is because we found it difficult to plan such a illustrative video in such a little amount of time, also, we realised we would need a high budget which we cannot provide. The locations we have chosen from "Smile" differ as we have chosen to film in a park, a studio and a house, as we are trying to keep the narrative as small as possible. We are planning to use as many different shots as possible such as:
  • Close ups
  • Long shots
  • High angles
  • Low angles etc
Lily added different narrative to the video, which was not mentioned in the lyrics such as getting people to beat up her boyfriend and trash his flat. We have chosen to do a similar approach. I have chosen to burn a picture of her boyfriend. This will be the very last scene and we are planning to end in an extreme close up of the picture burning.
